In the 11th century, Vân Đồn Port was a major trading hub of Đại Việt, where merchant ships carried silk, ceramics, and handcrafted goods across regional waters. Inspired by this legacy, Red Dragon reflects the spirit of those historic vessels, while her batwing sail silhouette is shaped by the former Red Dragon of 2010.

Each cabin aboard Red Dragon is inspired by the traditional trade goods, craft villages, and coastal livelihoods once connected to Vân Đồn, turning every space into a tribute to the heritage and human stories of the historic port.

The Story

In the 11th century, during the Ly Dynasty, Vân Đồn Port was a vital international trading hub of Đại Việt, where merchant ships departed carrying silk, ceramics, and handcrafted goods across regional waters. It was a place where commerce and culture met, shaping Vietnam’s maritime identity. 

Red Dragon was born from this legacy.

Her spirit draws inspiration from those historic merchant vessels, while her graceful batwing sail silhouette is shaped by the former Red Dragon of 2010.

Guided by this concept, each guest cabin aboard Red Dragon is designed around the traditional trade goods and craft villages that once flourished at Vân Đồn. Themes are inspired by precious commodities such as agarwood, silk, ceramics, salt, and bronze casting, as well as the coastal livelihoods of Ha Long’s early communities: net weaving, boat building, and other enduring artisanal traditions.

In this way, every space on board becomes a tribute to the crafts, materials, and human stories that once defined the historic port.
